Messi Reach ‘Agreement’ To Leave Inter Miami

Lionel Messi has reportedly reached a “deal in principle” to leave Inter Miami and join Newell’s Old Boys in Argentina next season.

The legendary Argentina and former Barcelona superstar will be regarded as one of the greatest, if not the greatest, football players in history when he finally hangs up his boots.

Messi has scored 115 goals in 196 caps for Argentina and 792 goals in 973 club games. The forward has won every award in the sport, including eight Ballon d’Ors.

Messi won four Champions Leagues, three UEFA Super Cups, three FIFA Club World Cups, seven Copa del Reys, seven Spanish Super Cups, and ten La Liga crowns while playing for Barcelona.

There were rumours last year that the Inter Miami star might go back on loan to Europe this winter in an effort to stay fit before the 2026 World Cup.

According to Football 365, Messi, who has been linked to a transfer to the Turkish powerhouse Galatasaray, raised questions about his presence at the competition in December when he stated: “I hope I can be there. I’ve said before that I’d love to be there.

“At worst, I’ll be there watching it live, but it will be special. The World Cup is special for everyone, for any country, especially for us, because we live it in a completely different way.”

Newell’s Old Boys Working On Messi’s Transfer

Juan Manuel Medina, the vice president of Newell’s Old Boys, has now acknowledged that the Argentine Primera Division club are “working” on a contract to bring Messi back to the team where he played as a junior player for five years.

Medina told Argentine news outlet TN: “We are working on having Leo play for Newell’s in the first half of 2027, but for now there’s nothing more than that.

“Everything depends on what we can offer in terms of infrastructure and a competitive sporting scheme.”
