Lionel Messi has agreed to a contract extension with Inter Miami, which would keep the Argentine superstar in Major League Soccer until the end of the 2028 season.
The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner had previously declared that Miami would be his final club, but the 38-year-old has made no indication of retirement, saying that age will not be an issue. His deal ensures that he will play competitively until well beyond the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. According To News Cgtn.
Messi went to Miami in 2023 following an unpleasant spell with Paris Saint-Germain, and he has since changed the league, pushing record attendance and ticket sales. Despite Miami’s elimination from the playoffs, the 2022 World Cup winner was awarded MLS Most Valuable Player for the 2024 season.

Miami will face Nashville again in the first round of the MLS Cup playoffs, which begins Friday.
