Mbeumo Set To Miss Bournemouth Clash Following West Ham Absence

Bryan Mbeumo is reportedly set to miss Manchester United’s pre-season match against Bournemouth in the early hours of Thursday.

Before Sunday’s friendly match against West Ham United, Manchester United supporters, including those in attendance at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey and those in the UK who stayed up till midnight, were let down.

News broke an hour prior to kickoff that Mbeumo will not be participating in the opening game of the United States preseason tour.

When the Red Devils’ new star forward completed his £71 million move from Brentford earlier in July, there was understandable enthusiasm to watch him play.

Mbeumo To Miss Bournemouth Clash Due To Lack Of Match Fitness

The 25-year-old was two weeks behind his new teammates – many of whom returned to Carrington on July 7 – in terms of match fitness when he joined United because he just worked out at the gym.

According to The Daily Express, Ruben Amorim gave his explanation for why Mbeumo did not play against West Ham in New Jersey but was active in training right away.

The Portuguese head coach also stated that his new No. 19 would not play for United on Thursday against Bournemouth at Soldier Field in Chicago.

“Bryan is starting slowly. He is not going to play in the next one,” Amorim told MUTV.

“We hope to have Bryan in the last game [in the United States]. He’s training now, so we’ll see.”

United will play Everton in Atlanta on Sunday to wrap up their U.S. trip, where Mbeumo is expected to make his debut.
