‘Mbappe Is Not The Problem At Real Madrid’ – Former Midfielder

Former Real Madrid player Alvaro Benito offered his thoughts on Kylian Mbappe’s first season at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Benito has come up to defend the French superstar and call on the team to do a thorough campaign assessment. Mbappe continues to garner attention, particularly after the home crowd booed when his picture appeared on the stadium screen.

There have been many expectations for Mbappe during his debut season in Madrid, and not all of them have been fulfilled.

Critiques have also come from the stands due to concerns over his fitness before the Copa del Rey final matchup with Barcelona. However, Álvaro Benito thinks the criticism is not focused in the right direction.

Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, Benito stated, “The truth is, Mbappe is well above the level of the rest of the team this season.”

“There are at least 20 other players who should be hiding more than he should. People expect the most from those who can offer the most, which is why he and Vinicius have become scapegoats.”

Benito thinks Real Madrid needs time to properly reflect, regardless of how the rest of the season turns out.

“We need to see how the season finishes, but no matter what, a full and honest review must be done,” he said.

“Even if they win the Copa del Rey or the upcoming league clash against Barcelona, that doesn’t mean everything is fine. A serious internal analysis is necessary.”
