Marseca Provides Palmer Injury Update Ahead Of Chelsea Clash With Brentford

Enzo Marseca has reportedly revealed that Cole Palmer could miss Chelsea’s London derby matchup against Brentford amid his return to training.

Palmer’s groin issue has kept him out of the Blues’ last two games. The 23-year-old was out after he hobbled out of the warm-up before the victory away at West Ham United.

He was subsequently left out of the England squad which Thomas Tuchel selected for the last international break.

Except for the release of an image of the attacker during a training session, no information was given about Palmer until recently.

However, during his pre-Brentford press conference today, Maresca provided an update on the Chelsea attacker.

Maresca Unclear About Palmer’s Availability Against Brentford

According to Football London, the Blues head coach said: “Cole took part in the session yesterday for the first time, not the entire session.

“We have one more session this afternoon and we are going to try with him to see if he’s okay, otherwise he will be out tomorrow.”

Maresca continued: “He is recovering from an injury, it’s not managing him, it’s recovering from an injury. When he is available, we need to manage him because of the amount of games.”

Liam Delap, who sustained a hamstring injury during the victory over Fulham, was also updated by Maresca.

Unfortunately, the Blues manager’s initial prediction that the 22-year-old will miss six to eight weeks of action has been revised to include “10 to 12 weeks” of absence.

Maresca said that there is a “question mark” on all players returning from South American international duty in relation to any additional injury news for this weekend’s match against Brentford.

Moises Caicedo was sent off in Ecuador’s 1-0 victory over Argentina this week, while Joao Pedro, Andrey Santos, and Estevao Willian played for Brazil away in Bolivia.
