Marcus Rashford Announcement ‘Set’ As Barcelona Contract Plan Emerges

Marcus Rashford is apparently on the verge of a permanent transfer to Barcelona, with an announcement date established in principle. The Manchester United academy graduate joined Barcelona on loan at the start of the season and has performed admirably for the La Liga club.

Rashford’s relationship with then-Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim had become untenable, and the attacker spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa. The England international was rewarded with his desired move to Barcelona, where the 28-year-old has 23 goals in 35 appearances across all competitions.

According to Spanish source Sport, Barcelona remains interested in making Rashford’s move permanent, with reports suggesting his representative visited with the club’s sporting director, Deco, earlier this month. Rashford is pursuing a permanent transfer and is aware that he may have to make wage compromises, as his contract with United does not expire until 2028.

Barcelona has had well-documented financial troubles in recent months, and the reigning Spanish champions intend to stretch Rashford’s salary across a long-term contract. Negotiations have been said to be peaceful, and an announcement on a permanent move will be made at the end of the season, assuming no major obstacles.

Manager Hansi Flick recently lauded Rashford’s dedication to the club, saying, “Marcus’ performances have been really good until now, so we have to manage it, but it is [sporting director] Deco’s job to do things for next season.”

“We need to wait. We have several months to go. For me, Marcus is a top-tier player, but he also understands our predicament, and I value his desire to be here.
