Marc Guehi’s Transfer Issue Heats Up As Star’s Champions League Ambition Become Clear

Following Premier League victory over Brighton and Hove Albion, Arne Slot is now focused on Saturday’s game against Tottenham Hotspur. Liverpool is now on a five-game unbeaten streak in all competitions and has a full midweek to prepare for their match against Tottenham.

Dominik Szoboszlai and Joe Gomez were the sad casualties of the battle against The Seagulls, with Slot admitting that Gomez will likely miss this weekend’s game against Thomas Frank’s club. However, there is some optimism for Szoboszlai, who may be able to play despite an ankle ailment.

After 16 league games, Liverpool is in seventh place with 26 points. They are only two points behind the top four, which is currently occupied by Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Manchester United, and Liverpool.

Marc Guehi Transfer Update

According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester City has added Marc Guehi to their transfer shortlist, putting pressure on Liverpool to sign him during the January transfer window.

The centre-back was close to joining the Reds during the summer transfer window, but the £35 million deal fell through on deadline day. His current deal with Palace expires in the summer, and he will not renew with the club.

Guehi commented on the aborted transfer earlier this month, saying, “I believe everyone has this notion that it was difficult. Actually, it was not difficult. It was not tough at all. Because when you’re focused on what’s most essential, it becomes simple.

“I know that God has a purpose for me, and whatever that plan is, it will come to fruition eventually. But my objective and emphasis have always been to play football and do my best. And thankfully for me, I get to do it with folks like Max (Lacroix).
