Fabrizio Romano has verified that Manchester United have turned down the opportunity to recruit a clinical striker who has previously lit up the Premier League, despite being given a deal, while another team has promptly stepped in and reached an agreement.
Manchester United is determined to rebuild its attacking ranks, and Matheus Cunha is the first piece of the puzzle. If a club-to-club agreement with Brentford can be reached, Bryan Mbeumo will Be Next.
Mbeumo has told all relevant parties that he only wants to join with Manchester United if he leaves Brentford this summer.
United have made two proposals so far, the second for £55 million plus £7.5 million in add-ons. A third proposal is expected.
Cunha and Mbeumo will play the two No. 10 positions behind the striker in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 formation. If Amorim and United have their way, a new No. 9 will lead a fully revamped front three.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, United had the opportunity to complete their transformation by signing Jhon Duran.

However, in what may come as a great surprise to some, United have turned down the opportunity to sign the 21-year-old Al Nassr star, who has swiftly soured on life in Saudi Arabia.
“Manchester United were offered the possibility of signing Jhon Duran from Al Nassr on an initial loan deal that would cover his salary,” Romano explained on his YouTube channel.
“But Man Utd decided to turn down that possibility to focus on different targets.”
United’s rejection of Duran is thought to be due in part to his hefty salary. Duran earns £330,000 per week at Al-Nassr and had asked the buying club to fund his whole wage during the initial loan spell.
