Manchester United In Talks With Star To Leave The Club ‘Hurriedly’

Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo could be heading for a January move, with reports suggesting talks are already underway for a potential exit.

The 20-year-old has struggled for minutes under Ruben Amorim this season, featuring for just 178 minutes in the Premier League and failing to start a single match.

With the January window approaching, speculation has intensified around his future, as Mainoo seeks regular football to continue his development.

While United are unwilling to sanction a permanent transfer, a loan move has emerged as a realistic and increasingly likely option.

Napoli Push for Fast Loan Deal Amid Midfield Crisis

Reports from Italy claim Napoli have identified Mainoo as their top target, with Antonio Conte eager to reinforce his injury-hit midfield.

The Serie A champions are currently without Frank Anguissa, Kevin De Bruyne and Billy Gilmour—leaving a temporary deal for Mainoo as an urgent priority.

According to Il Mattino via NapoliMagazine, Napoli have already made contact with Mainoo’s representatives and hope to complete the move “as soon as possible” once the window opens.

Mainoo is reportedly open to spending the remainder of the season in Naples, where he would reunite with former Premier League stars Scott McTominay and Rasmus Hojlund.

The Stockport-born midfielder, who broke into United’s first team in 2023/24, has seen his progress stall under Amorim, making a January switch increasingly appealing.

United face West Ham on Thursday, but all eyes will remain on Mainoo’s future as Napoli push to finalise the deal early, reports Mirror.
