Manchester United Have Two Obstacles In A Prospective Deal For Ollie Watkins

Ollie Watkins Would Be An Excellent Addition To Manchester United, But The Possible Deal Appears too good to be true.

Watkins Has Established Himself In The Premier League, And He Demonstrated His Talent With England at Euro 2024 last year. He is an accomplished centre forward who can guarantee goals.

The 29-year-old checks most boxes, but Aston Villa are reported to demand £60 million to discuss a sale, and United will be unable to reach that price, putting a damper on a potential move to Old Trafford.

Marcus Rashford took Watkins’ starting spot at Villa Park for a few games during his loan, but he has returned to Manchester and is unlikely to be used in a swap deal.

United would have to fund Watkins’ move through regular means, and a summer sale of Rasmus Hojlund might free up funds, but that is unlikely at this point. According To Manchester Evening News.

Ruben Amorim is open to selling Hojlund, and Inter Milan has expressed interest, although Hojlund downplayed the likelihood of returning to Italy when he spoke last month.

“I have a contract until 2030, so I expect to play for Manchester United,” stated Hojlund. “I’m looking forward to going on a summer vacation, and then I’m fully dedicated to the project that’s underway.”

Most fans have given up on Hojlund following an exceedingly poor second season at the club, yet he scored 16 goals in a promising rookie season and could recover.

The only way a move would make sense for Villa would be if United made an impossible-to-reject bid, but United will not break the bank for any player, let alone a 29-year-old.
