Manchester United Eye Antoine Semenyo Deal Amid Uncertainty Over Pep Guardiola’s Future At Man City

Next month, Manchester United will make every effort to sign Antoine Semenyo in the hopes that the uncertainty surrounding Pep Guardiola’s future will boost their position.

For the prized Bournemouth forward, whose £65 million (€74 million) release clause expires at the beginning of next month, United is in a four-way race with Manchester City, Spurs, and Liverpool.

Semenyo is wanted by City, but United is one of the bidders hoping to capitalize on the uncertainty surrounding Guardiola’s future at the Etihad Stadium.

Guardiola’s contract with City expires in June 2027, but the team is reportedly moving forward with backup plans in case the Catalan departs in the summer following a decade filled with trophies in Manchester. Guardiola’s new contract, which he signed 13 months ago, was cited by sources close to the team when City declined to comment on his future.

Enzo Maresca, the head coach of Chelsea, is reportedly a strong contender to succeed Guardiola in the event that he leaves. According to Irish News.

Although it’s unclear if the uncertainty surrounding Guardiola will affect Semenyo’s choice or the team’s attempts to bolster itself next month, City’s competitors are anticipated to want to take advantage of that circumstance.

Semenyo (25) is in high demand and faces a difficult dilemma as he plans his next career move. Last summer, United sought to buy Semenyo but were turned down by Bournemouth’s £80 million-plus asking price.

However, United remain keen to add the Ghana international to their squad now that the release clause incorporated into the terms of his new five-year contract with Bournemouth in July has reduced his price, and they are set to make their approach.
