Manchester United Decide Kobbie Mainoo’s Future

Kobbie Mainoo’s struggles at Manchester United continue as reports suggest the club will block any potential loan move during the January window.

The 20-year-old midfielder has found minutes hard to come by under new manager Ruben Amorim, starting only once across all competitions this season, reports Four Four two.

Mainoo, who impressed under Erik ten Hag last campaign, has played just 113 Premier League minutes, sparking growing frustration over his limited involvement.

He had hoped for a summer loan to gain experience, but United rejected the idea, insisting he remains vital to the club’s long-term plans.

Now, despite mounting interest from clubs across Europe, teamTALK reports United will again deny any exit when the transfer window reopens.

Amorim Prefers Experience Over Youth in Midfield

Amorim has consistently selected Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte in midfield, leaving Mainoo struggling to adapt to the Portuguese coach’s 3-4-3 tactical system.

The England international, who started the Euro 2024 final, is desperate to return to the national team setup ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Serie A side Napoli are among a dozen clubs monitoring the Carrington graduate, with scouts impressed by his technical ability and composure in possession.

Amorim recently admitted Mainoo “needs to understand the position better,” praising his calmness but urging him to improve defensive discipline and tactical awareness.

Mainoo remains contracted until 2027, and despite his struggles, Manchester United are adamant he will not leave Old Trafford midway through the season.
