Manchester United Close To Signing Goalkeeper ‘Alternative’

Manchester United are reportedly closing in on the signing of Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammers from Royal Antwerp, with personal terms understood to be nearly agreed.

The 23-year-old shot-stopper has emerged as the latest target for the Red Devils this summer as manager Ruben Amorim looks to bolster his squad following a period of scrutiny over the goalkeeping department.

United have faced criticism over Altay Bayindir’s performance in the opening-day defeat to Arsenal, where the Turkey international deputised for Andre Onana.

With Onana recovering from a pre-season hamstring issue, and Tom Heaton also available, the club appear keen to strengthen competition between the sticks, reports MEN.

Lammers, who made his top-flight debut for Club Brugge at 19 before moving to Royal Antwerp in 2023, is reportedly attracting interest from other clubs in France and Italy, prompting United to act swiftly.

Amorim is said to be weighing the goalkeeper’s potential role, balancing the existing options while addressing concerns from the opening-day performance.

The Red Devils’ focus on Lammers highlights their ambition to secure long-term stability in goal ahead of a demanding Premier League campaign.
