Manchester United Bids €40 Million For Sporting Midfielder

Morten Hjulmand’s rise to the midfield ranks is one of the most dramatic in modern sport. From his time in Lecce to his current captaincy at Sporting CP, the Dane has established himself as a club and national icon. His leadership, ball recovery, and tactical insight have caught the attention of Juventus and Manchester United, who are now circling.

According to CalcioMercato, Juventus is interested, but “have focused on former Lecce player Morten Hjulmand, now captain of Sporting CP, in midfield.” However, Juve must first address the issue of Douglas Luiz, who has become “increasingly distant” from the Bianconeri. His absenteeism from training has resulted in fines, and his departure might help bankroll a midfield rebuild.

Hjulmand’s signature will not be cheap. He carries a €80 million release clause. Sporting are apparently willing to cut the figure to €50 million, but “not beyond that.” That figure remains high for Juventus, who must sell before purchasing.

Crucially, the player himself is willing to leave, with his side estimating a value of €30-40 million. “They’re looking for a way out to help a player who has also gained international experience in Lisbon, becoming a regular starter, even becoming captain and protected by that huge release clause.”

Enter Manchester United or  Ruben Amorim, the former Sporting leader who is currently at Old Trafford, has fanned the spark. Amorim had “put him at the center of the project” in Lisbon, and the midfielder flourished under his leadership.
