Manchester United have reportedly reached an agreement with Emiliano Martinez over personal terms, as the club looks to resolve its goalkeeping issues.
The Aston Villa star was absent from his side’s 3-0 defeat against Crystal Palace, further fuelling speculation about a move.
Martinez, a World Cup winner with Argentina in 2022, has been linked with an Old Trafford switch throughout the summer, reports FFT.
United’s current goalkeeping setup has been under scrutiny, with Andre Onana struggling for form and Altay Bayindir yet to convince.
Manager Ruben Amorim appears keen on securing an experienced option to bring stability between the posts.
Villa Star Nearing Old Trafford Move
Journalist César Luis Merlo claims Martinez has already agreed personal terms with United, though negotiations with Aston Villa remain ongoing.
Villa boss Unai Emery gave a strange response when questioned on Martinez’s absence, only repeating the name of backup keeper Marco Bizot.
At 32, Martinez would likely be a short-term solution, but his leadership and shot-stopping ability could prove vital for United’s ambitions.
The Argentine has been valued at around €20 million by Transfermarkt, a fee that United are reportedly prepared to meet.
