According to former captain and record goalscorer Wayne Rooney, Manchester United has made a “step” in returning to their heyday.
After defeating rivals City in the Manchester derby, United defeated Premier League leaders Arsenal 3-2 on Sunday to make it two straight victories since Michael Carrick took over as interim head coach on January 13.
As a result, United is now in fourth place in the standings and is well-positioned to compete for a Champions League spot the following season.
Since Carrick took over, the club’s performance and behind-the-scenes operations have given hope for United’s future success. Former England striker Wayne Rooney stated on the current episode of The Wayne Rooney Show, available on BBC Sounds, that Manchester United had undergone a remarkable transformation in just two games. Michael and his coaches deserve high appreciation for this.
“Just putting an attitude into the players and a focus, and a togetherness into them which, if we’re honest, we didn’t see under Ruben Amorim.
“Manchester United went there with the belief that they could win. Although they didn’t create many chances, they maintained strong control of the game. Arsenal had a good start.

Manchester United earned the victory.”
Rooney believes Carrick and his staff’s initiatives outside of the first team have contributed to the club’s return to past success. Rooney described the atmosphere as peaceful. I was watching the under-16s on Saturday morning, and they were all there again.
Michael Carrick, Steve Holland, Jason Wilcox, and all of the coaches were there, as you’ve heard me mention a lot about the academy link.
