Man Utd Eye £100m Signing As Smarter Midfield Investment Over Bruno Guimaraes

Manchester United are reportedly preparing a major summer move to strengthen their midfield, with the club targeting Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali in a deal that could reach £100m.

The Italy international is seen as a younger, longer-term option compared to Bruno Guimaraes, who United are also reportedly in advanced talks to sign.

With Casemiro set to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season, United are planning to recruit two midfielders.

Sources indicate that Premier League experience is a key factor in the club’s summer recruitment strategy, with Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton, and Carlos Baleba also on their shortlist.

While Bruno Guimaraes would bring leadership and immediate quality, concerns over his resale value remain as the Brazilian turns 29 this year.

Tonali, by contrast, is 25 and has been praised by Paul Scholes as one of the Premier League’s best midfielders, offering both immediate impact and long-term potential.

United’s recruitment team sees Tonali as a smarter investment, aligning with the club’s strategy to integrate younger talents alongside key summer signings like Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.

Although Tonali’s fee could exceed the £69m estimated for Guimaraes, the Red Devils view the Italy international as a transformative signing capable of elevating their midfield for years to come, reports Give me sports.

Securing Champions League football next season could further boost United’s transfer budget and appeal to top targets, putting the club in a strong position to land one of Europe’s most sought-after midfielders.
