Man Utd co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Wealth Falls By Over £6Billion

According to this year’s Sunday Times Rich List, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a co-owner of Manchester United, has lost £6.473 billion in wealth in the past year.

Ratcliffe, the creator of the massive petrochemical company INEOS, had his fortune drop from £23.519 billion a year ago to £17.046 billion, placing him in seventh place on the most recent list of the 350 wealthiest individuals in the United Kingdom.

In February of last year, the 72-year-old paid £1.25 billion for a 27.70 percent share in the Old Trafford club, and he has since grown his holding to 28.94 percent.

Since taking over football operations, he has overseen a contentious cost-cutting initiative in an effort to turn around United’s fortunes, reports Independent.

With two games left, they are in 16th place in the Premier League standings.

If they want to have any success this season, they must defeat Tottenham, who are in 17th place, in the Europa League final.

Nonetheless, several of the country’s top athletes have had a better year, as evidenced by the rise in wealth of Rory McIlroy, Anthony Joshua, Sir Andy Murray, and Harry Kane.

England captain Kane, who finally ended his quest for a first major trophy when Bayern Munich secured the Bundesliga title earlier this month, just cracks the list in joint-38th position with £100m, £25m higher than last year.
