Man United’s Deal For ‘Next Caicedo’ Hit Snag Following Barcelona Update

Manchester United are one of the teams interested in Ederson Castillo, a highly-regarded teenager from South America. However, it has been rumoured that Barcelona have made the initial move to sign him.

Currently playing in his native Ecuador, Castillo, 17, has drawn numerous suitors from elite clubs in Europe. United were the “most interested” team in signing the young player, according to a report earlier this week.

According to BOLAVIP, United may make a move this month or in the summer. Known as the “next Moises Caicedo,” the youngster is anticipated to fetch approximately £4 million.

But with Barca taking the lead, United might lose out. The La Liga powerhouses have brought Castillo to the team on a trial basis with the intention of signing him, according to a report from Diario Sport.

Even though the young player has only played six first-team games, Real Madrid are also eager to sign him.

Man United Prioritize Investment In Young Players

Castillo is the most recent wonderkid to be linked to a transfer following a change in United’s recruitment policy.

Diego Leon, Ayden Heaven, Sekou Kone, and Chido Obi all arrived as teenagers and made an impression. Leny Yoro and Patrick Dorgu have also arrived to establish themselves as first-team regulars.

Only if the right player becomes available for the right price will United be able to bolster their roster this month. Ruben Neves is one of the players linked to a transfer, and finding a new midfield player is the top priority.

The Al-Hilal midfielder is believed to be available for about £15 million after declining a contract extension. The Portugal international and United are free to sign a pre-contract agreement for next summer.
