Man United Told To Pay Three Times Emi Martinez’s Value To Sign Aston Villa keeper

The Red Devils are said to have already made a move for the World Cup winner, with reports from Argentina saying that both Manchester United and Barcelona have made offers to the 32-year-old goalkeeper.

According to TalkSport, Manchester United have learned the fee they will have to pay to lure Martinez away from Aston Villa.

Martinez has told Manchester United that he will only leave Aston Villa for €47.5 million.

Atletico Madrid may compete for ‘El Dibu’, who came up through Arsenal’s ranks.

Martinez still has four years left on his Aston Villa contract, which expires in 2029, but this is a ridiculous asking price for the goalkeeper.

According to FootballTransfers’ methodology, the keeper’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) is only €17.5 million, which is nearly same to the sum paid by Birmingham to Arsenal for him.

Despite winning the Yashin Trophy, Martinez’s ETV has never risen considerably above €40 million.

Onana has higher ratings.

Martinez’s season has been fairly difficult given his lofty expectations. He ranks 12th among Premier League goalkeepers in terms of save percentage, at 67.9%. The South American is also ranked 26th out of 43 in PSxG-GA, a rating that assesses a goalkeeper’s ability based on shot quality.

Current Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana, despite several high-profile errors, outperforms Martinez in both of these critical measures.

Based on Martinez’s statistics and Aston Villa’s asking price, Manchester United might be wise to wait this one out.
