Man United To Compete With Chelsea For Premier League Defender

Manchester United and Chelsea are reportedly set to lock horns over the signing of Brighton and Hove Albion defender, Pervis Estupinan.

The Ecuadorian defender, whose recent performances have garnered praise throughout Europe, has been valued by Brighton around €40 and €45 million.

The South Coast club are aware that some of the best teams on the continent may show interest in starting talks this summer, even though their contract is set to expire in 2027.

According to Caught Offside, Chelsea and Tottenham are especially excited about the transfer, seeing the player’s Premier League experience as a valuable asset.

Compared to overseas options, this familiarity offers a lower-risk choice in a league where swift adaptation may make or break a signing.

Spurs want to increase depth and competitiveness at left-back, while Chelsea are particularly eager to solve long-standing concerns there.

As they rebuild their team under the INEOS-led sporting project, Man United are also looking for reinforcements.

The club believe Estupinan can take over the left-back position at Old Trafford for a long time because of the injuries and patchy performances that plague the position.

The Red Devils have already expressed interest in signing the left-back, who is 27 years old.

Given the number of clubs involved and the fair price for a player of his caliber, a bidding war may break out in the upcoming weeks.

Brighton will not be hurried into a decision since they are open-minded but strong on their valuation and have their own aspirations to play European football.

Since joining the team to replace Marc Cucurella, who transferred to Chelsea, the Brighton left-back, who made 30 league appearances for the team the previous season, has been phenomenal.
