Man United Target Receive Court Punishment After Admitting Possession Of Illegal Items

Manchester United transfer target, Karim Adeyemi has reportedly been fined €450,000 (£396,000) for admitting possessing a taser and a pair of brass knuckles.

A district court in Hagen, in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, decided the case against the 23-year-old Germany international and striker for Borussia Dortmund.

According to German law, possessing either item is prohibited and carries a maximum three-year prison sentence.

The Athletic claims that Adeyemi will not receive a criminal record and has avoided a public trial.

Adeyemi is instead have to pay a fine of €7,500 (£6,600) per day, “in accordance with his salary and which started on October 30.”

Dortmund Release Statement After The Judgement

An official statement from Bundesliga club Dortmund read: “BVB always takes criminal allegations seriously and uses them as an opportunity to discuss them with its employees while respecting confidentiality obligations.”

Adeyemi did not feature in Germany’s 6-0 home triumph against Slovakia on Monday, which sealed their qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, despite being with the team on international duty this week.

Head coach Julian Nagelsmann was questioned about Adeyemi’s situation prior to kickoff and told reporters: “The issue is a bit too big before such an important game, for all of us and for German football.

“Therefore, I will not comment on any further inquiries, regardless of their nature.”

This statement follows rumours that Man United and renowned superagent Jorge Mendes had discussions about signing Adeyemi for the upcoming season.

According to reports, negotiations between Dortmund and Adeyemi to extend the player’s contract into 2027 have halted because the German giants are unwilling to include the €80 million (£70.7 million) release clause that has been sought in any extension.
