Manchester United are reportedly exploring a sensational move for Robert Lewandowski as Ruben Amorim plans a January squad boost.
The Reds spent over £200 million last summer on Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko, and Senne Lammens but remain active in the market.
Despite sitting ninth in the Premier League, back-to-back wins over Sunderland and Liverpool have eased pressure on Amorim’s side, reports Manchester Evening News.
Reports from SPORT claim United have made contact with Lewandowski’s representatives over a possible free transfer next summer.
Lewandowski move considered as striker mentor
Lewandowski, 37, has scored 647 club goals and 87 for Poland and is viewed as the ideal mentor for Sesko.

With his Barcelona contract expiring, Amorim reportedly admires the veteran forward’s experience and leadership in front of goal.
MEN Sport suggests the deal would give United one prolific season and much-needed mentorship for their young attacking lineup.
The club may also avoid the challenge of signing a striker willing to be second choice to Sesko.
Gallagher loan on United’s radar
United are also monitoring Atletico Madrid’s Conor Gallagher, who could arrive on loan as a midfield reinforcement.
talkSPORT reports the England international could be available for around £35 million, though Atletico prefer a permanent deal.
Gallagher’s energy and versatility appeal to Amorim, who wants extra depth after missing out on Carlos Baleba last summer.
A loan move may suit United’s finances before pursuing a permanent midfield target next summer.
