Manchester United might pick a new temporary manager till the end of the season as early as TODAY. Michael Carrick has emerged as the leader for the post, ahead of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Ruben Amorim was relieved of his duties at Old Trafford a week ago, with former United midfielder Darren Fletcher taking over for the games against Burnley and Brighton.
The club’s administration, including director of football Jason Wilcox and chief executive Omar Berrarda, met with Carrick and Solskjaer before making their selection.
Carrick, the former manager of Middlesbrough, held talks on Thursday, while Solskjaer spoke with the pair over the weekend at Carrington, according to The Guardian.
The goal is to make an appointment swiftly enough so that the interim manager has enough time to prepare for the Manchester derby. Manchester City visits Old Trafford in the Premier League on Saturday (12.30pm).

It looks that if it is Carrick, he will face a difficult assignment in raising a group that has already been eliminated from both domestic cup tournaments and can now only qualify for Europe via the league.
Fletcher portrayed a bleak picture for the future chief executive. “You can see that the players are fragile, and they need to build themselves up because it’s now up to them to respond,” he stated following Sunday’s 2-1 FA Cup third round defeat to Brighton at Old Trafford.
“Confidence is one of the most important aspects of football. When you lack confidence, you must dig deep and battle, grind, fight, work, and win games until the confidence returns.”
Fletcher emphasized that he has no idea what happens next. “The Scottish coach is scheduled to meet at Carrington on Monday morning.
