Manchester United and Newcastle United have reportedly been given a boost over the signing of Benjamin Sesko as RB Leipzig confirmed that Lois Openda will not be heading to Sunderland.
Sesko has recently attracted the attention of both the Red Devils and the Magpies.
Openda, who has been linked to United in the past, was reportedly on Sunderland’s wish list.
According to the Daily Express, had the Black Cats been successful in acquiring Openda, Leipzig would probably have been reluctant to give up both of their attackers in August, making the acquisition of Sesko much more challenging.
Sunderland are believed not to be interested in the Belgian forward, which is a positive development for United and Eddie Howe’s side.

Even though the Black Cats are active in the transfer market, Sky Sports has confirmed that they would not approach Openda.
Leipzig might be more open to offers for Sesko if he stays put. In an attempt to spark a bidding war among interested clubs, Leipzig turned down Newcastle’s initial offer of slightly under £70 million for the striker.
Last season, the Slovenian star scored a remarkable 22 goals across all competitions, solidifying his status as one of Europe’s most promising players.
Man United Looking To Add A Striker After Missing Out On Some Forwards
This transfer window has seen United miss out on a number of players, including Hugo Ekitike, Liam Delap, and Viktor Gyokeres, who were acquired by Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal, respectively.
Despite these setbacks, Ruben Amorim has strengthened his offensive lineup by adding Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.
