Manchester United will soon intensify their efforts to retain three players for an additional match before the African Cup of Nations.
On Monday night, Everton halted the Red Devils’ Premier League unbeaten streak.
United had been commended for their improved performance under head coach Ruben Amorim, whose tactical adjustments and the beneficial effects of summer additions helped them go five games without losing in the Premier League.
This is the reason the 1-0 loss to 10-man Everton was so upsetting; Amorim and his team were once again under close scrutiny.

Man Utd will aim to return to winning ways this weekend when they travel to face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, but they will soon be handed a further blow as Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui all certain to compete at next month’s African Cup of Nations.
Man Utd will be missing Mbeumo, Amad, and/or Mazraoui for a maximum of eight Premier League games during the AFCON, which runs from December 21 to January 18.
The team’s encounter against Wolves at Molineux on December 8 is now scheduled to be their last game before the major event.
Man United Plan To Retain The Star Trio For An Extra Game
However, according to the Daily Mail, United are attempting to keep them for the game against Bournemouth on December 15.
According to reports, Amorim’s side are “scrambling to keep this star trio for an extra game” and will “accelerate discussions” regarding their “release dates” in the days ahead.
They may repeat a “struck deal” with Andre Onana prior to the 2023 AFCON, as they are set to “seek assistance from the three national federations after Everton exposed the lack of depth in Amorim’s squad.”
