Man United Fail With Transfer Offer For Martinez

Manchester United have reportedly seen their loan offer for Emiliano Martinez rejected by Aston Villa with the Red Devils looking for options to end their goalkeeping issues.

The Argentina No. 1 helped his nation win the FIFA World Cup on penalties three years ago, and Ruben Amorim has been linked with a potential move for him.

However, those at Villa Park have dashed his chances of acquiring him on a temporary basis.

Many concluded that Martinez was headed to new pastures when he made an emotional appearance during his final home game last season.

The former Arsenal goalie, who is valued at £40 million by Villa, has turned down the opportunity of moving to Saudi Arabia this summer.

Aston Villa Turn Down Man United’s Loan Offer For Martinez

According to the Daily Mail as reported by The Mirror, talks took place over the weekend, and United proposed loaning Martinez from Villa, but the Midlands outfit swiftly stated that this would not be possible.

Ironically, the Villa goalkeeper was sent off on the last day of the season at Old Trafford.

Due Manchester United’s 2-0 victory, Unai Emery’s side were forced to settle for the Europa League rather than the Champions League.

After that defeat Emery was quizzed on Martinez’s future potential exit and said: “I don’t know. He has a contract with us. We are very happy and we will see how the summer goes.”

Pressed on if there have been discussions over Martinez leaving, Emery added: “I don’t know. You can ask him.”

There are still questions surrounding Andre Onana, who will embark on his third season in Manchester. He is in a race against time to be fit for the Premier League opener because he will miss preseason due to a torn hamstring.

Amorim’s side will play Arsenal at home to start the season on August 17.
