Manchester United underwent a major revamp in their attacking line this summer. Rasmus Hojlund was loaned out to Napoli after Benjamin Sesko arrived, signaling his exit.
Hojlund’s days as a United player at Old Trafford are over given the deal included an obligation to buy clause.
Joshua Zirkzee, United’s other senior striker, saw his position decline in spite of these adjustments. Zirkzee was expected to help and compete with Sesko much as he did with Hojlund the season before, despite not being a conventional center-forward.
By this time last year, Zirkzee had made 13 appearances in all competitions and played 592 minutes. After a year, he has only made five appearances, totaling barely 90 minutes of playing time.

It’s evident that Zirkzee isn’t receiving the same opportunities as before, even though there were more games last season because of United’s participation in the Europa League and a longer run in the Carabao Cup.
Ruben Amorim’s preference for a formation without a designated striker explains the reason for the sharp reduction in Zirkzee’s playing time.
Clubs Interested In Zirkzee
According to the Daily Express, West Ham and Sevilla are keeping an eye on the Dutch international, who is attracting interest from other teams as well.
Zirkzee is valued at £24 million by Transfermarkt, thus it’s very likely that United will try to sell him in January in order to address their midfield problems, either in the summer or during the mid-season window.
He is obviously not going to get the playing time he needs before the World Cup next summer. Therefore, finding a buyer is in everyone’s best interests.
