Luis Diaz’s Transfer To Bayern Munich Is Complete And Liverpool Has Made Significant Profit

Luis Diaz has joined Bayern Munich in a deal worth £65.5 million for Liverpool.

The Colombia international sat out Saturday’s friendly defeat to AC Milan in Hong Kong due to Bayern’s interest, and after flying to Japan as part of the club’s pre-season contingent on Sunday, he left the camp earlier this week after talks between the two clubs progressed and agreement was reached.

Liverpool were originally reluctant to let the winger leave after an outstanding season in which he scored 17 goals in all competitions for Arne Slot’s Premier League champions.

An advance from Barcelona was rejected outright in June, followed by an approach from Bayern, which was also turned down before an offer was made earlier this month.

However, the club’s attitude softened when Bayern made a second offer of more than £65 million for a 28-year-old who had already stated his want to go after two new contract offers were rejected.

Liverpool believed the deal was simply too good to pass up for a player Diaz’s age, with only seven players 28 or older commanding a larger fee in football history than the amount the Reds will receive from the sale. Reported By Liverpool News.

It means that sporting director Richard Hughes has arranged £190 million in player sales since his arrival last year, more than offsetting the historic outlay this summer, which is already approaching £300 million.

Liverpool believe they are well stocked up front after signing Hugo Ekitike for £79 million from Eintracht Frankfurt earlier this month, but speculation lingers about a move for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, who has stated his want to leave St James Park.
