Liverpool’s Star Rapidly Becoming Their Biggest “Disaster” Since Keita

Liverpool look increasingly unlikely to retain the Premier League title with each passing game.

Of all, winning the top-flight trophy two seasons in a row is a difficult task, even when you’re going all out.

However, it becomes much more difficult when you consider how swiftly Arne Slot’s title defence is falling apart right now.

The Reds have now suffered five league defeats this season, while newly promoted Sunderland has only two losses.

Slot was also heavily backed in the summer, with Liverpool’s summer transfer business undoubtedly capturing the focus, given the club’s staggering £415 million outlay. Reported By on X.

Alexander Isak and Milos Kerkez have struggled to get started, costing a combined £165 million to get through the door.

However, there is one well-known name who is in serious risk of becoming Slot’s own Naby Keita. Yes, things appear extremely bleak at the moment.

The statistics underlying Keita’s Liverpool tragedy

When Keita arrived at Anfield in 2018, there was a lot of excitement about his high-profile signing.

After all, Jurgen Klopp openly declared that the Guinean was the “best player in the league” in the Bundesliga before departing RB Leipzig for a shot in England for a record £48 million.

In Klopp’s defence, Keita had gathered 16 goals and assists in all competitions for Leipzig during his final season, and the former Reds number 8 did score some brilliantly struck goals during his time on Merseyside, as seen in the entertaining highlight reel above.

But, with all the hype that had surrounded the acquisition at the time, Keita’s constant in-and-out presence in the treatment room would have irritated Liverpool fans the most, with a staggering 122 games missed through injury for club and country across his five seasons in England.
