Liverpool Want To Sign LaLiga Star On Free Transfer Which Is Bad News For Barcelona

Liverpool already want to sign Marc Guehi, who is a target for Barcelona, and in the upcoming weeks, the La Liga leaders may suffer yet another transfer setback.

During the upcoming summer transfer window, Liverpool intend to make major changes in their defence.

Ibrahima Konate, a former Real Madrid target, might depart, and Guehi could take his place. Oscar Mingueza enters the picture as a potential full-back signing.

Mingueza’s Celta Vigo contract is set to expire at the end of the current campaign, and Estadio Deportivo reported that Liverpool are interested in reaching a pre-contract agreement with him.

It is unlikely that he will sign a new contract with Balaidos, which would allow the current Premier League champions to take advantage of a tremendous market opportunity.

Celta’s chances of reaching a new deal with the Spain international would be greatly diminished if the Reds made a move for Mingueza.

Barcelona would be unhappy about this since they would rather that the defender be sold for a high price rather than depart as a free agent.

Barcelona kept a 50% sell-on clause in the agreement that allowed Mingueza to sign a free transfer with Celta in the summer of 2022.

If any club had activated his €20 million release clause, the Blaugrana would have been entitled to €10 million, but it now looks like the financially strapped Catalans would be left with nothing.
