Liverpool To Rival Man United For Their Top Summer Transfer Target

Liverpool and Manchester United appear to be headed for clash this summer with both teams preparing a massive move for Adam Wharton of Crystal Palace.

After climbing up from the Championship with ease since his £18 million transfer from Blackburn Rovers two years ago, Wharton, 21, has a plethora of Premier League admirers.

The England international might be the next well-known player to go, as Marc Guehi has joined Manchester City and Jean-Philippe Mateta is also pushing for a transfer.

The elite of the top flight has already shown a strong interest in Wharton, with United reportedly being one among the teams hoping to sign him.

According to the Daily Mail, if Palace are prepared to cash in, Liverpool would also be eager to sign the playmaker.

Palace Could Demand More Than £80M For Wharton

Given the level of interest in the midfield player, it might require a sum of about £80 million to get them to do business.

Despite their admiration for Wharton, the Premier League defending champions will concentrate on acquiring a central defender in the transfer market after losing out on Guehi during the summer.

Another Premier League player they are interested in is Tottenham Hotspur defender, Micky van de Ven.

At the end of the season, Wharton’s future will probably come under scrutiny, and it is anticipated that United will have a discussion as they plan to restructure their midfield.
