Liverpool have made an early start to their summer transfer plans after winning their second Premier League title on Sunday.
Arne Slot’s side strolled to first place in his inaugural season, with Liverpool sealing their victory with a 5-1 win over Tottenham at the weekend, with four games remaining in the competition.
Perhaps the most impressive feature of Slot’s soaring rookie season is that he accomplished it with only one permanent signing at Anfield, Federico Chiesa, who has made little appearances.
But that will not be the case ahead of next year’s campaign, as Slot is likely to receive a big transfer budget. He has apparently identified a striker and a left-sided defender as his major goals, and according to the Daily Mail, he has already created a shortlist.
Liverpool will join a long list of clubs interested in signing Bournemouth centre-back Dean Huijsen, who has impressed this season, recording more blocked shots and interceptions than any other Bournemouth player as Andoni Iraola’s side unexpectedly qualified for European competition.
They will also consider Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez as a left-back option, with the Hungary international having scored two goals and provided five assists in 34 league outings this season.
With Darwin Nunez expected to depart the club following a difficult three years on Merseyside, Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike has been identified as a possible replacement.
The summer transfer window will be split into two sections this year, either side of the Club World Cup. It will be open from June 1 to June 10, before reopening on June 16 and closing on the first of September.
