Liverpool midfielder James McConnell has admitted that he is learning from ‘great’ Everton failure Davy Klaassen, who he regards as ‘so sharp’ in the soccer pitch.
The Reds decided to send McConnell on loan to Dutch giants Ajax during the summer transfer window in order for him to advance in his development.
Ajax has faced criticism for making this trade because he is competing for game time with homegrown prospect Jorthy Mokio.
One club veteran has even stated that McConnell’s presence is ‘slowly killing’ Mokio.

However, the Liverpool man is learning from his time at Ajax, as are his teammates, including Klaassen.
Klaassen made a large money move to Everton in the summer of 2017 to play for Ronald Koeman, but the move did not work out.
The Dutch midfielder struggled at Goodison Park and was eventually released the following summer, joining German club Werder Bremen.
He also praised another teammate, Steven Berghuis, telling Dutch publication Voetbal International, “I’m really impressed with Steven Berghuis.”
“His passing is fantastic; he sees spaces and plays the ball through them.
“I also have to mention Davy Klaassen.
“It really helps me to watch him.
“He has a fantastic football mind… he’s so smart.”
Klaassen quickly found himself playing under Sam Allardyce, who took over as Everton manager after Koeman.
After leaving the Toffees, the midfielder said that he only spoke with Allardyce three times, and the manager was just uninterested in what he had to say.
He returned to Ajax from Werder Bremen in 2020 and soon said that his training sessions with the Dutch club were far superior to those he had at Everton.
