Liverpool’s defensive concerns have grown when right-back Jeremie Frimpong was out for several weeks due to a muscle injury on Friday.
The Netherlands international pulled up early in Liverpool’s 6-0 Champions League victory against Qarabag on Wednesday. He has struggled with multiple injuries in his debut season at Anfield.
“He´s out for a few weeks but not as bad as we thought he would be out,” manager Arne Slot said of Frimpong, a summer signing who was seen as a long-term replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold as quoted by the Daily Mail.
Frimpong’s injury seemed to be either his hamstring or groin, though Slot did not say so.

Slot’s team are already lacking at right back due to Conor Bradley’s season-ending knee injury in early January.
Sixth-place Liverpool hosts Newcastle on Saturday as the goal for Slot, who drove the club to the Premier League title last season, has moved to a top-four finish. Liverpool trail first-place Arsenal by 14 points.
Joe Gomez is still absent, but Ibrahima Konaté will play on Saturday, according to Slot, and midfielder Curtis Jones will be available.
