Liverpool Send Message To Trent Alexander-Arnold And Spark Furious Reaction

Liverpool risked angering their fans by sending a message to former player Trent Alexander-Arnold via social media. The local lad left Liverpool in questionable circumstances earlier this year, choosing to join Real Madrid instead.

It appeared like Alexander-Arnold would move on a free contract at the end of his contract, but the summer Club World Cup allowed Liverpool to secure a minor fee for their academy product’s services. Los Blancos spent roughly £10 million to complete the transaction quickly, with Alexander-Arnold playing for Xabi Alonso’s side in the Stateside event.

Even though a minimal amount was paid, Alexander-Arnold’s relationship with certain Liverpool fans deteriorated. So much so that legendary manager Jurgen Klopp went out and begged Liverpool fans not to harbor any ill will toward the right-back following his departure from Anfield.

However, months after his eventual departure, Liverpool rekindled the embers by wishing Alexander-Arnold a happy birthday on their social media pages. While it is customary practice for all current stars and prominent previous players, some fans have complained about the move.

Another, tongue firmly in cheek, added: “That’s four losses in a row.”

Another said, “This tweet is worse than those three straight defeats which we suffered last week.”

It wasn’t all doom and gloom, however, as several Liverpool fans expressed their good wishes. A admirer tweeted: “Happy birthday lad, we weren’t angry at you personally we were angry because we knew how much we’d miss you.”

Liverpool were drawn at home to Real Madrid in the league phase of the competition, with Alexander-Arnold still unavailable due to the problem. According to reports, he should return to the squad in the coming weeks, but he will have to beat the clock to play at Anfield.
