Liverpool Rejects €15 Million Offer For Contract Rebel -Transfer Process Ongoing

In January, Sport Witness reported on Inter Milan’s interest in Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate.

L’Interista was certain of the pursue, stating that the Nerazzurri will make a formal bid for the player in January. Due to Konate’s contractual condition, it was thought that €15 million would be sufficient to complete the transaction.

The centre-back’s contract at Liverpool expires in the summer, and Inter considered him as a potential successor for Stefan De Vrij. The Dutchman was initially anticipated to leave the Serie A club last month.

There are now updates about the issue, and the Reds may keep Konate.

Liverpool negotiations pose a headache for Inter.

L’Interista reports that Cristian Chivu’s team made an offer for Konate in January. They offered €15 million for his signature, but despite early signals of promise, it was rejected.

Despite that, Inter has not given up. They’ve been in contact with the France international’s entourage to take advantage of any opportunities to land him.

Liverpool’s contract talks with Konate complicate their task. The Merseyside club rejected a January deal because they want to keep him beyond the season.

The 26-year-old has also had bids from other European teams, which is an issue for Inter Milan.

Inter is not giving up on Konate.

All of this should be disappointing, yet Inter are still pursuing a deal. They’re waiting to see if Liverpool will actually sign Konate to a new contract. If things do not progress, the Nerazzurri will be in the running for a signing in the summer.

This is understandable, especially given that De Vrij and Francesco Acerbi could depart Inter at the end of the season. At that moment, Chivu’s team will need to sign younger defenders to strengthen their backline.

Signing a player of Konate’s level for free would be ideal, especially given how finances work in Serie A. Inter are specialists at sniffing out such deals, and landing the centre-back would match their strategy.
