Liverpool Receive Konate Boost As Real Madrid Eye New Defensive Target

Liverpool have reportedly been handed a boost in their quest of keeping Ibrahima Konate at the club as Real Madrid have identified another centre-back target.

Currently in the last year of his contract, the French defender has not yet committed his future to the English champions. Throughout the summer, he was linked to a move to Real Madrid, one of the biggest clubs in Spain.

Although the move never happened, it has become clear that Liverpool have been attempting to put together backup plans in case the 26-year-old decides to depart.

Notably, Marc Guehi’s bid of £35 million was accepted by Crystal Palace. However, at the last minute, the Eagles’ chairman Steve Parish called off talks.

In order to recruit Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer, the Spanish giants, who are led by former Reds fan favorite Xabi Alonso, persuaded the England international to turn down multiple contract offers at Anfield last campaign.

It’s also generally thought that the 2024 Champions League winners might pull off the same ruse by luring Konate to the Spanish capital.

Real Madrid Earmark Van de Van For Transfer

According to Fichajes as reported by Liverpool FC, Real Madrid are contemplating a sensational bid for Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven.

According to the publication, the Netherlands international’s speed, strength, and capacity to perform well in a high line make him an “ideal fit” for Florentino Pérez’ project.

Van de Ven had a fantastic first season in England under Ange Postecoglou, as the Lilywhites finished in fifth place in the 2023–24 season.

However, the 24-year-old struggled to reach the same heights last season as the team fell to a miserable 17th place finish.

He has had a strong start for the North London team this season, and it is believed that Madrid are keenly monitoring his development.

The player’s price tag is still the only obstacle, though, as Fichajes claims Tottenham will seek £70 million for the pacey defender.
