It’s worth considering how things would have turned out defensively if Liverpool’s move for Guehi had been completed on deadline day.
Without the Crystal Palace captain, the Reds’ biggest issue is a lack of depth at centre-back, which they may be able to address with an alternative in January.
Liverpool is preparing to table Araujo’s £40 million offer.

Meanwhile, unlike Guehi, the 26-year-old has the potential to contend for a position at Anfield.
