Barcelona president Joan Laporta is reportedly fearful that Ronald Araujo could make a controversial switch to Real Madrid, echoing the infamous Luis Figo saga.

As a result, Laporta is said to prefer selling Araujo abroad, with Liverpool emerging as a serious contender.
According to Defensa Central, Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso is targeting a top-level centre-back to bolster his defensive options, having already used both a three-man backline and a traditional four-man defence.
With Ibrahima Konaté and William Saliba proving difficult to land, Alonso may now shift focus to Araujo.
Madrid have reportedly offered €25m for Konaté, whose Liverpool contract ends next year, though the Premier League side remains optimistic about renewing his deal.
Similarly, Saliba has expressed a desire to stay at Arsenal, despite Madrid’s interest, reports Team Talk.
Due to these obstacles, Araujo is viewed as a prime alternative. However, Barcelona are wary of selling him to their fiercest rivals.
To avoid a repeat of the Figo transfer drama, Laporta is open to accepting Liverpool’s proposal, which exceeds €40m.
The Uruguayan international is seen by Liverpool as a long-term successor to Virgil van Dijk, making this a potential blockbuster move.
