After making a name for himself in the Red Star squad, the teenage offensive midfielder just became the second-youngest debutant in the history of the Serbian national team.

In the Champions League group stage, Maksimovic made six starts, including against AC Milan, Barcelona, and Inter.

As expected, Europe’s elite have taken notice of Maksimovic’s rise and according to the midfielder’s agency, both Liverpool and Aston Villa are interested in signing him.

“It’s no secret, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Leipzig, and Atletico Madrid are among them,” agent Zoran Stojadinovic informed Miljanov Korner.

“Clubs from the top leagues have shown interest, and that’s where we come to the price.”

The young player cannot transfer abroad until he turns 18 in June, therefore negotiations have stopped since Red Star director Zvezdan Terzic recently said Maksimovic would not be sold for less than €20 million (£16.6 million), reports 90 Min.

“If it’s €20m, then they say we’ll wait until June because he can’t go anyway, so let’s see him off until June,” Stojadinovic said. “He would have been sold sooner if the price had been €10 million and he could have left right now.
