Liverpool are not losing up on getting Lennart Karl to Anfield during the summer transfer window, despite the Bayern Munich star being in discussions about a new contract, according to reports.
Despite signing Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2025, Liverpool is interested in upgrading their attacking midfield.
Our colleagues at TEAMtalk revealed last month that Liverpool has expressed interest in Karl.
Arsenal are also interested in the 18-year-old offensive midfielder, who disclosed in November 2025 that he is a fan of Gunners attacking midfielder Martin Odegaard.

Karl pointed out parallels between him and the former Real Madrid midfielder, saying, “He’s also a left-footer, plays in the playmaker position, and has good vision and a good shot.”
Karl is under contract with Bayern until 2029, but the two parties are negotiating a new deal, according to Bild.
However, Liverpool remains interested in signing Karl, who can also play as a winger, in the summer of 2026.
According to Fussball Daten, ‘Liverpool are in constant touch’ with Karl, who is also wanted by Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle United and Real Madrid.
Bayern, however, are not actively looking to sell the 18-year-old, who is valued at up to €100 million.
According to the study, Karl combines ‘Thomas Muller’s game knowledge with Martin Odegaard’s technical finesse’.
The teenager has seven goals and four assists in 31 appearances for Bayern this season.
Karl isn’t the only Bayern Munich player who Liverpool has taken a shine to.
Michael Olise is one of Liverpool’s main targets for replacing Mohamed Salah this summer.
Salah’s future is still unknown, with speculation that he will depart Liverpool at the end of the season.
Many Liverpool fans see Olise as the Egyptian’s inevitable successor.
