Liverpool Hero Joey Jones Died At The Age Of 70

Liverpool hero Joey Jones died at the age of 70. The Welsh full-back joined the Reds from his native club Wrexham in 1975 and became a cult hero among fans during his three seasons at Anfield.

During his tenure with the Reds, the left-back won the League title, two European Cups, the European Super Cup, and the UEFA Cup. As Liverpool conquered Europe, he featured on the iconic banner ‘Joey ate the frogs legs’. Reported By Liverpool Echo.

Jones returned to Wrexham in 1978, later playing for Chelsea and Huddersfield Town.

Liverpool veteran John Aldridge confirmed the tragedy, writing, “More sad news folks, Joey Jones passed away last night.”
