Liverpool Eye Move To Sign Malick Fofana To Replace Salah

c are reportedly considering signing Olympique Lyonnais player Malick Fofana as a long-term successor for Mohamed Salah, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.

Since joining Liverpool from AS Roma in 2017, the Egyptian has established himself as one of the top Premier League players. He is even regarded as one of the top forwards in the world.

He has led the Reds to two Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy, and numerous more big cup victories over the years. The 33-year-old almost single-handedly steered Liverpool to the league title last season, scoring 29 goals and providing 18 assists in 38 games.

Salah’s future, however, was a topic of speculation prior to the start of the recently closed summer transfer window, as his current contract was about to expire. He eventually elected to stay, signing a two-year deal.

Now that the African is nearing the end of his career, Arne Slot’s side is looking for a new wide forward to be his long-term replacement.

According to Fichajes, Liverpool has chosen Fofana as the ‘perfect choice’ and may take concrete steps to capture his services in January or next summer.

Fofana to Liverpool.

After showing hints of his abilities in Ligue 1 last season, the Belgian drew a lot of interest this summer. Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Everton have all expressed interest in signing him.

The Toffees apparently made the most concrete approach to acquiring him. The Reds were also thought to be interested in him. Eventually, the teenager decided to stay at Les Gones to play frequently and further his career.

The 20-year-old is valued at roughly £26 million by Transfermarkt and has three years left on his current contract. As a result, Lyon is in a great position to demand a large price if they are obliged to cash in on him next year.

Fofana is a natural right-footed left-winger, but he can also play on the opposite side and offer central cover if necessary. He has had a promising start to the season, with two goals in three league games.
