Liverpool Close ‘Signing On Salah’s Successor Today As Reds Identify ‘Perfect Candidate’

Liverpool wants to sign Lyon winger Malick Fofana as soon as possible as a replacement for Mohamed Salah, according to sources.

Salah has been the target of interest from Saudi Arabia in recent years, with significant speculations that he was about to relocate there before signing a new contract at the end of last season.

Salah is expected to leave for the Middle East in the coming years, after giving his all at the highest level of the game.

Michael Olise former Reading and Crystal Palace attacker, has been identified as a potential heir to Salah’s throne at Liverpool if he leaves in the coming year or two.

Last week, it was reported that ‘early indications’ indicated that Bayern Munich’s Olise ‘may be well at the top of their shopping list’ as they hunt for Salah’s replacement.

And now Lyon’s Fofana could be an alternative option, with Liverpool ‘considering’ a deal for him last month before the transfer market closed.

There were numerous clubs interested in signing the Belgium international throughout the summer months, but Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri stated at the end of August that Fofana had decided to stay at Lyon.

Tavolieri posted on X: “Malick Fofana has decided to stay at Olympique Lyonnais!”

‘The Belgian did not find a club that properly meets his aspirations this summer and chooses to wait until the next transfer window to locate the right project.’

Fofana told reporters about his decision to stay: “There was interest from those two clubs (Liverpool and Chelsea), but it wasn’t concrete enough.”
