Liverpool Branded ‘Real Madrid Reserves’ As £55M Star Backed To Swap Anfield For Estadio Bernabeu

A former Everton CEO has slammed Liverpool and endorsed Alexis Mac Allister’s move to Real Madrid during the summer transfer window.

On March 1, 2026, TEAMtalk’s transfer insider, Graeme Bailey, revealed that Real Madrid is interested in signing Mac Allister from Liverpool in the summer of 2026.

The Spanish giants aim to recruit a new top-tier midfielder to Estadio Bernabeu this summer, with Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez and Moises on their radar.

We understand Real Madrid is also interested in Dominik Szoboszlai, although the Hungary international midfielder is expected to sign a significant new contract with Liverpool.

Mac Allister, too, is a player Madrid has been keeping an eye on, according to a reliable source who told TEAMtalk: “Mac Allister is someone the club is talking about; they love his style, attitude, and demeanor; he is very similar to Modric in many ways, which they like.”

Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness believes Mac Allister could join Los Blancos and has labeled Liverpool as ‘Real Madrid reserves’.

Madrid signed Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool last summer and is keeping an eye on Ibrahima Konate, who is out of contract with the defending Premier League champions at the end of this season.

There have been speculations in the Spanish media that Madrid is also interested in Florian Wirtz, despite Los Blancos’ decision not to bid for the attacking midfielder before the Germany international joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen in summer 2025.

Wyness told Football Insider: “Well, last week we talked about Szoboszlai heading to Real Madrid, and now McAllister is going to Real Madrid.

“It appears they are Real Madrid reserves at the moment.

“I believe McAllister could be interested in Real Madrid.
