According to a recent report, Liverpool is competing European powers over the signing of Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni.
Virgil Van Dijk has had tremendous success since transferring to Anfield from Southampton, winning every major competition he has entered. However, the 34-year-old has exhibited symptoms of declining this season.

With his current contract set to expire at the end of next season, TEAMtalk reports that the Merseyside club has begun looking at replacement options for the Dutchman. The Reds have identified Nico Schlotterbeck and Micky Van de Ven as prospective candidates.
TEAMtalk, citing recent reports, claims that Liverpool has also identified Bastoni as a genuine option and has already made conversations to learn more about signing him.
The 26-year-old’s current contract runs until 2028, and the Nerazzurri had previously requested roughly £69 million to trade him. They are, however, now ready to cash in for £43 million.
However, signing the Italian may be difficult for the Merseyside club because Barcelona is also interested in him, and the player is eager to join the Blaugrana if he leaves San Siro Stadium this summer.
