Liverpool Battling With Arsenal To Sign Takefusa Kubo

According to Spanish source Fichajes, Liverpool is battling Arsenal over the signing of Real Sociedad star Takefusa Kubo.

Mohamed Salah had a fantastic season last year, scoring 34 goals and providing 23 assists in 52 games across all competitions. He played a key role in Liverpool’s Premier League victory.

However, Arne Slot’s team was in danger of losing him for free this summer. Nonetheless, they were able to renew his contract until 2027. So the Merseyside club isn’t clamoring for a new right winger.

Nonetheless, Fichajes claims that Liverpool is interested in Kubo and has already started preliminary negotiations to work out the legalities of signing him.

Although the Japanese international has a contract at Reale Arena until 2029, his future is uncertain as Real Sociedad undergoes structural changes, with their manager, Imanol Alguacil, and sports director expected to go this summer.

Arsenal are also interested in the forward and, like the Reds, have inquired about the terms of his signing. His current contract includes a £50 million release clause, but neither the Gunners nor the Merseyside club are willing to pay that much for him, given that he will not be a starter for either club.

Kubo is a technically proficient left-footed right winger. He moved to La Real from Real Madrid, and Los Blancos have a 50% sell-on clause.

Although he is a great player, he struggled to perform at his best during the recently finished season, scoring only five goals in 36 La Liga games.

The former Los Blancos star is the backbone of Real Sociedad’s attacking unit, and when he suffered, so did the team, which finished in mid-table.

Bukayo Saka is Arsenal’s unquestioned starter on the right flank. Ethan Nwaneri is one option for assisting Saka. Nwaneri is still only 18, but he has shown glimpses of his immense potential. As a result, Mikel Arteta’s team will not have to spend a lot of money to add depth to this position.

Nonetheless, it would be intriguing to watch whether the North London club or the Liverpool club eventually decide to sign Kubo in the forthcoming transfer season to improve the offensive department.
