Liverpool Battling With Arsenal To Sign Daizen Maeda

According to transfer analyst Graeme Bailey, Liverpool and Arsenal are reportedly competing over the signing of Celtic striker Daizen Maeda.

Arne Slot, the Reds’ new manager, has led his team to the Premier League title this season with Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Federico Chiesa was the sole player bought last summer, although he has struggled to play consistently thus far. Given that the Merseyside team has already won the title, he may now receive more regular playing time between now and the rest of the season.

According to reports, Liverpool will remain active in the forthcoming transfer window in order to freshen up the squad and compete on all fronts again next season.

Slot is allegedly interested in signing a new midfielder, while Liverpool is also looking to acquire a new centre-back. The Reds are looking for a new center-forward to replace Darwin Núñez, who has fallen out of favor with the Dutch manager this season.

Battle

Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak has been touted as the major striker target, but the Magpies are apparently unwilling to part ways with him. So, it appears that the Merseyside club has opted to shift its focus to alternate options.

According to Bailey of TBR Football, Liverpool has expressed an interest in Maeda after attentively monitoring his performances, while Celtic value their top player at roughly £25 million.

However, Liverpool will have competition from Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur to sign the Japanese player.

Mikel Arteta wants to upgrade Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus, therefore the Gunners have also been looking for a new striker. They, like Liverpool, are interested in Isak, and Maeda may be a viable alternative.

The Celtic star has had a productive season, scoring 29 goals across all competitions. He has even shown glimpses of his abilities in the Champions League this season, facing Bayern Munich in the playoff stage.

However, it is unclear whether he possesses the required qualities to assist Arsenal or Liverpool reach their lofty goals.
