‘Liverpool Are Laughing’ At Bayern Over €75M Diaz Transfer – Hamann

Former Liverpool midfielder, Didi Hamann has reportedly claimed the Reds will be laughing at Bayern Munich over the €75 million fee they paid for Luis Diaz this summer transfer window.

The ex-Germany international also criticised manager Vincinet Kompany for “not letting the youngsters play.”

The Bavarians have had a lackluster summer in terms of transfer activity, failing to recruit Florian Wirtz, Nico Williams, and Nick Woltemade.

Woltemade’s discussions with Stuttgart have actually been very difficult, as the 2024–25 DFB-Pokal winners have refused to budge from their demand of €65 million (£56 million) for the 23-year-old striker.

However, there is a troubling feeling that the Bundesliga winners overpaid for Diaz, a winger who had just two years left on his Liverpool contract.

What Did Hamann Say About Diaz’s Transfer To Bayern?

Speaking in an interview with Heute as quoted by Goal, Hamann said: “Diaz is a very good footballer, but what Bayern are doing isn’t a business model.

“Bringing in a 28-year-old for that amount of money and then paying him even more than he earned in England? Liverpool are laughing. And, coach Kompany isn’t letting the youngsters play.

“And I’ve heard there’s talent there like there hasn’t been in 10 years. Yet the German championship is still only possible through Bayern.

“Who else? Leverkusen will have a tough time, and it won’t be Leipzig either; Dortmund is the most likely option. The benchmark for Bayern will be the Champions League.”

The Colombia international is anticipated to make his competitive debut when Die Roten face Stuttgart in the DFL-Supercup final on Saturday.
